$5.2 b Fine: MTN Not Paying. At Least Not Yet

We reported that MTN will not pay the fine imposed on it by the Nigerian Telecommunications Commission, NCC.

MTN Group has announced to shareholders in Johannesburg this morning  that the Nigerian Government "has agreed to waive the payment of the fine until negotiations in the matter are concluded".



The deadline for the payment expired 100 hours this morning.

The news will come as a huge relief for MTN and its subscribers.

What informed NCC's decision is not known but we will keep you informed.
