Amazing. 69 year old Legendary Juju crooner, King Sunny Ade, has won a 30 year old lawsuit he filed against African Songs and its subsidiary in 1975.
He sued the company way back when for infringements on his works.
Justice Dosunmu of Lagos High Court has awarded Ade a whopping 500million Naira in damages and an additional 3 million Naira in legal fees.
Right at this moment, the plans of African Songs are unknown. Will the company pay up or will it appeal ?
Whatever their decision, I’m pretty sure King Sunny Ade will always enjoy the satisfaction of knowing he won because he did not give up.
