China, a country of 1.4 billion people ,is very rich. Or was very rich.Enriching China is a quid pro quo.
For Africa,it came in the form of commodities: Oil,copper,tin,etc.And for its rich middle class ,Africa supplies cocoa and coffee.
For the developed World,China is one large factory. Apple is made in China.
It also targets all nations with cheap products.
Nobody is too eager to buy those products.
China in turn Is prudent enough to cap production. What with a Yyan that has been devalued twice in the last 6 months.
Here is where economists confuse us with numbers and graphs.
"ChIna's growth forecast lower than expected" Forbes.
"Oil prices are not low enough"-Forbes.
"Africa's GDP to drop steeply"-IMF.
Now wait for this: "investors are waiting to see the Preliminary ManyfatYrIng PyrhasIng Power Index figures from the EYrozone and the YSA on friday,October 23.
That is, investors want America And The EU to announce how well they are doing.
Now commonsense: OIl prIces are falling partly because China no longer has a compelling reason to buy .
Two,cheaper energy means that America and The EU will do well.
Nations that have nothing to offer,mostly from Africa, need a miracle to survive the dollar and the Euro.
More numbers: Africa now accounts for 1.4 % of World Manyfatyring.
The bottom line: Until China and India are able to pollute the air again, OPEC countries are going to endure pain and hardship.That is not happening soon.
