Danish defender Johnny Sivebaek scored his first and only goal for the Reds as Ferguson picked up his first victory in his home debut.
First trophy: United 1-0 Crystal Palace

After a thrilling 3-3 draw in the initial encounter of this FA Cup final tie, Lee Martin’s effort in the replay handed Sir Alex his first silverware at Old Trafford.
First European success: United 2-1 Barcelona
15 May 1991
Just under a year later the Reds were celebrating again as Mark Hughes’ brace against Barcelona clinched the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.
First league title: United 3-1 Blackburn
3 May 1993
Aston Villa’s defeat to Oldham the previous day made United champions for the first time in 26 years, and they lifted the trophy in front of a delighted Old Trafford crowd.
First Champions League triumph: United 2-1 Bayern Munich
26 May 1999
Ferguson’s first Champions League crown came as part of the famous treble, with late goals from Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer completing a memorable comeback.
