All confusion aside though, our excitement is building for the next-generation of BlackBerry phones that are due out later this year. Word has it that London is actually slated for the UK (go figure), while two other models -- "Laguna" and "Lisbon" are in development for the US market targeting AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. We wouldn't be surprised at all to see Laguna and Lisbon actually launched prior to London. With BlackBerry still the #1 Smartphone in the UK, it's in America that RIM needs to first make a big splash with BlackBerry 10.

RIM's attempts to rejoin the smartphone elite appear to rest heavily on the forthcoming BlackBerry London device, which has made another unscheduled appearance. A new photo of the all-touchscreen slim device, which is likely to showcase the BlackBerry 10 operating system, was uncovered by the RIM obsessives at CrackBerry and they're already calling it a "Superphone."
By contrast, the BlackBerry London in the image above looks much more like a phonified BlackBerry PlayBook, featuring the rounded corners and all-black look of RIM's first tablet. And while we heard the first photo of London was a legit RIM hardware concept, we've been hearing for an even longer time now that the first QNX-based phone hardware was more like a downsized PlayBook. Who's knows. Maybe by the time it hits we'll see the design evolve yet again. The plot thickens.
Whilst the two leaked images of the claimed BlackBerry London handset show devices with considerably modified form factors, the latest offering shows a drastic move away from the now customary BlackBerry design with the handset taking on a full touchscreen, almost iPhone-esque design.

Whilst there is currently only rumour surround the BlackBerry London's specs the handset manufacturer’s parent company RIM is believed to be trialling TI OMAP5 and Qualcomm processors both of which are said to be 1.5GHz dual-core offerings.
Elsewhere the smartphone is touted to have 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage and looks set to be a step away from the current range of BlackBerry devices and a move into the high-end smartphone sector. A 2-megapixel forward-facing camera is also set to appear alongside an unknown snapper on the rear.

Doing away with the brands much-loved and now synonymous full QWERTY keyboard the BlackBerry London is said to boast a 3.7-inch touchscreen display book ended by metal endplates and line up slimmer than the minimalist Apple iPhone 4S.
